NYE.

Now that Christmas fever is out of my system I am on to New Years. For most girls New Years is about what to wear. Even though New Years Eve is tomorrow, I have zero plans. But! I do know what I intend to wear...and that's all that matters, Right?

Jackpot.

I am finally returning to blogging after finishing finals and enjoying Christmas festivities. I graduate in May so I am already applying for school. Ah! I am applying for Journalism so I am using this blog as a part of my portfolio. But now to the materialism...all around I had a wonderful Christmas. I find that as you get older, you concentrate less on the gifts you get and more on the gifts you give. That being said, my mother really went all out and gave me what I have been longing after for as long as I can remember, the Chanel S5018 sunglasses. Now, whether they are replica's or not, I cannot say forsure. All I know is I think I am in love.

Received!

Here is my newest Etsy acquisition. I love jewelry that tells a story, or that is claiming to have some magical power. Its not that I fully believe it, but its nice to know there is more to your necklace then just being bought at Forever21 for 4.80. I just received this quartz crystal necklace with gold plating and a long chain and I love it! There are all sorts of stories behind crystal necklaces and I can't wait to dig in and learn about them all. This necklace was purchased at Babetteworld for $39.00 with shipping (to Canada) and she shipped it practically the next day. She makes them all to order, so every single one is unique. Here it is:

Fountain of Youth.

So, the other day while browsing the fashion section of my local bookstore I stumbled upon this wonderful book. Well, its kind of a book. It's hard to explain actually. It was in the fashion section, so I know it wasn't for children. It is a fashion/coloring book. It shows creations from fashion designers and asks you to draw your own creations! It's amazing. Here are some excerpts.

Pretty Faces.

I don't know about you, but when I pick out a magazine it's not based on the covergirl. Or at least, not consciously. I have my certain favorites, that I buy regardless of the person on the cover. Little did I know, choosing a covergirl is a big business. Today, I stumbled upon these figures. Just by putting Jennifest Aniston on Harpers Bazaar business went up 22%, the most in 7 years! Here are some of the other figures i found, apparently putting Halle Berry on the cover is not a wise business choice! What do you think?

Jennifer Aniston - Harpers Bazaar (255,000 copies, up 22%)
Jennifer Lopez - Glamour (624,000 copies, up 1%)
Julia Roberts - Elle (390,000 copies, down 10%)
Hilary Swank - InStyle (800,000 copies, down 6%)
Halle Berry - Vogue (540,000, down 5.5%)

Lavin.

I know this is old news, but today was the first time that I laid eyes on the Lavin for H&M collection. I usually have mixed emotions about H&M designer collections but I really think that Lavin hit it out of the park. Here are my favorites from the collection! What do you think?

pretty protection.

Clearly, my laptop is very important to me. I use to to online shop, blog, all that fun stuff. For the past few months I have been carrying my laptop in a pillow case. After one too many laughs, I invested in a laptop case. While I was searching for one, it came to my attention how many lovely cases you can get to protect your technology. Here are some of my favorites:

shinyshoes.

Shoes. We have a love hate relationship. I love them, but hate looking at my Visa bill after I have purchased them. So I simply adore that feeling when you put on a pair of shoes and know that they go with your outfit magically. When I bought these shoes I had slight buyers remorse because I didn't have the funds to back them up. Today when I put them on I was so happy I didn't let the fact that I had no money get in my way.

Stripes! I remember a couple years ago, stripes were everywhere. At first, I adored anything striped. But of course, when things get overproduced they lose their appeal. So, because everyone was wearing them, I stopped. Recently I have noticed that stripes seem to be making a raging comeback. But its not a typical comeback. Sometimes, if they're lucky, certain styles become "classics". Take the LBD (little black dress) for example, or other prints like floral or leopord. They have been dubbed as being classic, never going out of style. Maybe stripes have always been in this category. For me, at least, they will be in my closet forever. Here are some of my stripey staples.

Fashion + Candy.

Today, I was going through photos of my Christmas trip to New York City. When I stumbled across photos from Dylan's Candy Bar. The place where fashion and candy collide. This is probably due to the fact that "Dylan" is Dylan Lauren, daughter of Ralph Lauren. Even though this post is not fashion related, this store is amazing and equally as inspiring. It is no doubt that this store was created by a fashion icon's daughter.

friendship.

These are my two best friends. They are both very different but equally lovely. I think that's why we are all so close. They each have their own distinct style and they don't apologize for it or compromise. A (right) has outrageous style. She can wear absolutely anything and pull it off. She rarely brushes her hair, and she finds pieces of clothing you would never think could go together and makes it work, not only does she make it work she makes it look beautiful. L (left) on the other hand is more subdued. She is not as outrageous but I would never call her plain. Whenever she wears an outfit she always has one item that draws attention and tells a story, whether it's an antique ring or a vintage handbag. She never wears makeup, but you could never tell. I love these girls.

Venomous Villains.

I love mac makeup. I especially love the limited edition collections they do. On September 30th they are once again unveiling a truly unique collection, it is called "venomous villains." This collection of makeup is an ode to villains everywhere. They have makeup dedicated to Cruellea de Vil, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent, and Dr. Facilier. Take a look!

The Hills Style?

I don't know about you, but I was a huge fan of the hills at the beginning. As the seasons continued and time went on I lost interest in the show and only watched episodes here and there. So, I have been reading in a lot of places that LC is planning to release a style book. Now, I don't know about you but I was never a fan of Lauren Conrad's style. She is the perfect example of what a lot of money and little creativity can get you these days, but that is just my personal opinion. I would never have thought she would write a style book. Based on these excerpts I think many would agree.

like silk.

This blog is made to share and enjoy fashion. But with fashion, I believe, always comes beauty. Makeup, hair and nails are like accessories. If done right they compliment an outfit perfectly. Lately, my hair has been dry and frizzy. The climate where I live makes it difficult to have lustrous hair all the time. I have literally tried dozens of products and masks. I have been using the Frederic Fekkai 3 minute hair mask, which is nice but it doesn't give me enough moisture. I have used an all natural L'Oreal mask which smells nice but that is about it. I have also used Keratase masks. Keratase makes wonderful products but they're seriously expensive at 30.00 + dollars per product. So I decided to get creative, I found and adjusted a wonderfull ALL NATURAL recipe. I have been doing it once a week for about two weeks and I have noticed a real difference in the texture and look of my hair. Give this recipe a try and let me know how it goes!

All Natural Hair Mask:
1 egg
1 mashed banana
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons olive oil

Mix ingredients together and apply to hair. Leave for 20-30 minutes. Wash out with shampoo.

Half Price

Hello out there. I just found two awesome websites I need to share. The first is called www.sale.com and its exactly what it sounds like. It is a website dedicated to discounted designer clothing. The next one is an ode to my previous post about vintage. It's called beaconscloset.com, a website for the amazing designer vintage store in NYC. If you haven't checked these sites out, you're missing out!

Vintage

I can't say that I am the biggest vintage collector. I have a few pieces, mostly consisting of hand-me downs from my mom or my grandma. The items I have been collecting are what I consider vintage staples, a jacket, a beautiful pair of old leather boots, a handbag, and last but not least, costume jewelery. It seems to be that whenever I compliment someone else, the item is almost always vintage. (Either that or the person doesn't want me to run out and buy the same piece, and for that I cannot blame them). Lately, I have been scouring eBay trying to find some vintage gems. Here are some of my dream vintage finds.

tis the season.

No no, I am not talking about the holidays. I am talking about fall. I think somewhere, sometime I have mentioned that fall is without a doubt my favorite season. Where I live the seasons are all how they are described in books. Spring is wet and rainy, Summer is hot, Fall is cool and crisp, and Winter is just plain cold. I really can't explain why fall is my favorite, it just is. But! I think it has a little to do with the fashion. I am a sucker for a nice pair of boots, I love finishing off a look with just the right jacket and I love accessorizing with wool tights and scarves. The colors you wear in fall are also what draws me in. Mustards, dark greens, navy, rich reds, black they are all colors that even when you wear in other seasons they have a distinct fall feel. So in the spirit of fall here are some of my favorite looks for the 2010 season!

here are a few of my favorite things.

When it comes to my wardrobe I try to be as organized as possible. All my hangers match and my closet is color coordinated. It is borderline obsessive compulsive, but my view is that the more organized your clothes the more visible they are, thus the more stylish you are. One area of my fashion life that I can't keep organized,on the other hand, is my jewelry. No matter how hard I try my jewelry will forever end up a jumbled mess. See for yourself:
